Umiak

Seven of us
Went out in the Umiak
We each had spears
Made of whale bone
Taken from the great fish
We killed
We killed a whale
Almost killed ourselves
Yet it took
Two days
To bring it home
We feasted in our cold place
Building up our bones
So we could kill again
Head out into the cold water
In our Umiak
Our safe kayak
Our Umiak
