Idle No More

Drumbeats echo
Out of The Forks and beyond
Winter's placid surface
Broken by
Rivers of protest
Gathering strength
Immaculately unapologetic
No longer invisible
No longer out of sight and mind
Stakes higher
When something so ethereal
Might be revolution
Catalyst of change
3rd world 1st Nations
Feel unprecedented urgency
For change now
No small achievement
Differences between pictures
Red and white
With rebel passion
Decades of committed Dancers
Singers Warriors
Interpreting Tradition and Truth
Our beautiful Indigenous people rising
Bright, bold like the sun
Or angel phoenix
We are standing
Showing the power we have
This fire spreading
Unexpected offering
Gift of such pride
Knowing our children are watching.
