Back in the Day

Long ago Great Grandfather
serenaded Great Grandmother
with tootles from his flute.
She listened and entered into cahoots
with love's plan to win her hand.

Shall he ride up and snatch her away?
(Tempted by the way she sashays).
Or with his best horses shall he pay?
For Great Grandmother's love his heart did sway.
To give he thought was a better way.
That was Indian love, back in the day.
