I named this Lahontan because in Nevada the great Lahontan Cutthroat trout comes from there.
At the antler crown is the head of a trout. The Lahontan cut-throat trout gets BIG. Its not unheard of to catch them to be well in excess of 25 pounds out of Pyramid Lake. They are a great and noble fish and they only come from that one place in the world.
Just past where the gills would be on both sides is inlaid a chinese oval turquoise cabochon, and it is stunning and smart western art sculpture. From all the pieces I've done, this is one of the top two of my favorites. This is drama... in a unique piece of western art... the painting you might find fired in a Zuni pot.
The base is Turkish walnut and granite. 19.5" high by 12" wide.
