The Cherokee word for turtle is Ulinawi. The Ulinawi is the totem animal for many native tribal members and is revered in native culture. This unisex necklace was made as a tribute to the Ulinawi.
The turtle medallion is made of seed beads in black, gold, brown, and crystal with turquoise seed bead eyes. It is backed with black leather, and measures 2½" wide by 2½" long.
The necklace portion of the piece is made with complimentary beads using diagonal brick stitch. The fastener consists of gold toned cones, a gold tone lobster claw clasp, and gold toned chain. The necklace is adjustable in length from 17 to 21".
