Sacred Sand Paintings
by Melinda Elmore
The sand trickles down
From the elders hand
Onto Mother Earth
As the sacred picture
Starts to form
To protect us
From the evilness
That dwells in us all
As the spirits arrive to protect
The evil ceases to stay
For the sand painting
Has created a living thing
That will strive to protect
The native way
