The legend of Kluskap's departure
A Micmac Legend
The time had come for Kluskap to leave his people. He told them
that he was going far to the west and that he would some day return
to them, and that life then would return to the old ways.
He turned over his huge cooking pot and it is now Spencers Island
in the Bay of Fundy. He also turned his dogs to small stone islands
and they now guard the entrance to Chignecto Bay.
